6 days ago - Here for sale is a John Deere 5' 503 3-Point Rotary Cutter. I have that same mower with the slip clutch. The shaft is metric and weasler has replacement parts. Most farm stores stock them. If you have the inside shaft that connects to the gearbox, take it with you and fit the ioutside shaft and find a yoke to match. Or you can use a caliper and measure the inside diameter. Be a lot cheaper than deere to get weasler. Mine was an italian style tri-lobe shaft. You want it to over lap at least a foot. As for the shear both or clutch issue. If you are not going to be doing much rough mowing then a shear bolt is fine. If you are going to be mowing in rough stuff then the cost of a slip clutch will pay in the long run. Also remember the JD 503 is the lightest duty cutter JD made in the 5 foot model. Check with your JD salesman. Many times you can get the complete shaft through whole good way cheaper than parts.
