2002-2009 Honda CHF50 Metropolitan Service Manual - Kindle edition by Cyclepedia Press LLC. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC,. The Cyclepedia Press LLC Honda CHF50 Metropolitan scooter repair manual is an original publication from Cyclepedia. This printed manual features detailed photographs, wiring diagrams, complete specifications with step-by-step procedures performed and written by a veteran Honda dealer trained technician. The Metropolitan is rated by Honda at 4.9hp whereas the ET2 is rated at 5.1hp, but the Metro has a 40lbs weight advantage (176lbs. 216lbs) making it quite comparable to the ET2 but slower than Yamaha’s Vino.
I would not object to paying full price for a manual, assuming I got the scooter at or below MSRP. The manual is just like buying a part, the dealer pays so much for it, then marks it up to make a profit on it. Dealers are in business to make a profit. But not to rip people off. 2008 Honda Metropolitan SpecsIf it is a price gouging dealer, then I would feel free to rip them off for whatever I can get. Several times I have gone to the local stealerdealer emporium, the one that sells $3000 Mets, and tried on helmets, jackets, and other things, found what I wanted, then ordered it online for a considerable discount. It's only fair. If they can do it, so can you. 2006 Honda Metropolitan Service ManualI will never buy a Met manual, all the online parts places have excellent schematics of everything, and I am a professional mechanic who gets paid to work on things a lot more complicated than a Met. I do own manuals for several of my vehicles, but they are all third party manuals (Haynes, Clymer, Chilton, Bently,) I'm surprised that nobody makes such a manual for the Met. Maybe they just aren't popular enough (yet) to make it worthwhile. Safe Scootin, and don't get ripped off. Duderiffic wrote:Hey GizmoGal. Can I recommend instead of doing that next time follow this simple procedure: 1) Select the window with the PDF using the left mouse button 2) Hit Alt+Print Screen (yes that button has a use) 3) Open Paint (Start -> Run -> mspaint) 4) Hit Ctrl+V (paste) 5) Print or Save You'll find that much faster and more accurate than writing everything down or sketching. Actually by right clicking on the page, you can either save page or print without a special program. I just purchased the membership and it extended my free membership to paid until 7/10. Actually it is a 2002-2006 manual, shrink-wrapped, with a number of insert making it a 2007 manual, shrink-wrapper, with a number of inserts making it a 2008 manual. It was about a dozen pages that were inserted into the manual (actually stickers that replace the pages in the manual) I went through this exercise of peeling and sticking the replacement pages into the manual a few weeks ago. Interesting to note that one of the changes is the recommended oil viscosity from 10w40 to 10w30. As has been discussed in the maintenance section, the engine didn't change, just the recommended oil. It's too bad that they don't seem to be recommending what's actually the best for the engine (or at least what WAS the best for the last decade or so), but rather seem to be have ulterior motives (fuel economy numbers perhaps?). With regards to Honda's change in recommended oil viscosity, and an increase in fuel mileage, you are dead on. While it would not make any difference with just one or a few scooters, with hundreds of thousands of them, it adds up. And yes, Honda, just like other vehicle manufacturer, cares more about fuel mileage than how long their engines last, as long as they make it through the warranty period. That's what this whole deal with the energy conserving ultra thin oils is about. 2008 Honda Metropolitan BatteryHonda stopped short of recommending those, because they were afraid the engine would not make it through the warranty period, and they would wind up replacing a lot of engines. Use 10w40, and you'll be fine. The 'no need to warm it up' thing is more of the same. Your engine will still last a lot longer if you warm it up before taking off, I don't care what Honda, any other manufacturer, or the EPA says. On average, using the proper oil, and warming it up will give you 30% more life from your engine. There is no pdf to send you. You have to buy a manual from a dealer or eBay seller or a Met owner who has one to give up, or view it online on the Honda site.
